I gazed upon the eyes of the sun and inquired about his character. Amazed at the thought of such immense intensity, setting a passion ablaze in ways that I never thought imaginable. I marched up to the highest mountaintop and stretched my arms out to shake this magnanimous man’s hand. We did not meet, for he warned me that no man has ever been able to touch nor brush against nor even have a single inkling that they could reach him. I was ashamed in myself for even attempting to grasp this yellowish orange being.
He was a generous man who had more power than the galaxy had space and time. He bent the world around him in his own image. He was his own fortress, impenetrable to any unstoppable force that opposed him. The sun told me to tell you that he did not play any games. He was serious with a burning passion to show man the light. The light is the truth. The truth is his word. The word is your sword. Your sword is for war. But the battle is not yours. No, the battle is for Him and Him only. He is all-seeing, all-being, and very much well-meaning. He is omniscient and he is the keeper of time. He is the gatekeeper to your wildest dreams. He is the dragon protecting the golden palace of milk and honey. He is the breadwinner for all. To put it simply, He is and always will Be.
As he told me these wise words that held so much depth that they reach the ocean floor, I became deaf. No man was meant to hear these words. I was cursed with knowing. For knowledge is man’s greatest ally, yet it has also been a trickster at its core. And I know no man has stood up for another without knowing that there would be a reward somewhere down the line for their courage. No man has wanted to willingly give their life unless it was for their security of mind. No man has conquered their own addictions and overcome their vices without knowing that it would somehow better their own life. No man has ever loved another and treated them like a brother without blood. That is, nobody but Jesus.
It tears me to pieces to know that he made the ultimate sacrifice. But how does one life save countless others? The sun was amused as I stood there bemused. He asked me how I could be confused. I told him that life is priceless, so how is one life supposed to pay the eternal cost of millions of billions of others. The sun exploded with laughter, terribly sorry for my lack of understanding. He said, “You are lack, and I am full. You are a shallow reflection of a pool. Use the Word, for it’s the greatest tool. Do not remain ignorant of my work, for if you do, you will remain a fool. You see, The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks what is just. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Finally, listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise.”
I stood there dumfounded as I realized that I was talking to God. This great insight made me apprehensive in my understanding of all my prior knowledge. I expressed gratitude toward him for gracing me with his presence. We said our goodbyes, and he left me in a flash so blinding that my memory of Him faded away. The knowledge that I had received was but a shadow hidden within the cavern of my mind. From that day on, I searched an endless search. I hungered for more and more each day. I had developed an unquenchable thirst for wisdom. My life revolved around the reflection of God’s image. As I embarked on this perilous journey, I planned to one day meet the sun and shake his hand. I knew that eventually, I would become one with the sun.
